Interim Rules 1-012A Discrimination Complaint Process Rule and 1-021B Sexual Misconduct Complaint Process Rule

Effective March 16, 2022, the University revised Interim Rules 1-012A and 1-012B to resolve an inconsistency between the rules and other University policies that address allegations of discrimination or sexual harassment involving a faculty member. Policy 6-300: University Faculty -- Categories and Ranks

A change to Policy 6-300 has been approved increasing the number of faculty members the University may recognize per year as distinguished professors from one to up to six. This change aligns policy with the current practice.

Policy 1-021 Abusive Conduct and Rules 1-021A, 1-021B, and 1-021C

Effective March 8, 2022, the University revised and finalized a policy and three rules addressing employee toward employee abusive conduct: Policy 1-021: Abusive Conduct Rule 1-021A: Abusive Conduct Reporting and Resolution Process for University Staff (non-UUHC), Academic Staff, Educational Trainees, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Medical Housestaff Rule 1-021B: Abusive Conduct Reporting and Resolution Process for University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics Staff Members Rule 1-021C: Abusive Conduct Reporting and Resolution Process for Faculty These regulations were originally enacted as interim regulations, effective January 1, 2021. Board of Trustees Approval of Faculty and Administrative Appointments

In May of 2021, Utah Code Section 53B-2-106, which governs certain responsibilities of the University president and Board of Trustees was amended to remove the required Board of Trustees approval for appointments of faculty and administrative officers. The related changes to the policies have been approved and are effective as of February 8, 2022. Procedure P3-100D: Gift Card Purchases and Requirements

P3-100D Gift Card Purchases and Requirements is effective Jan. 15, 2022 and outlines the approvals and controls that must be in place when gift cards are purchased. This procedure applies to all academic and administrative units of the University and to all methods used when purchasing gift cards. Procurement and Contracting Services has also created a number of forms to be used when these purchases occur, as well as documents describing the procedures departments should follow. These documents can be found on the Financial and Business Services' website.
