Effective September 28, 2026, the university created Rule R6-200B: Graduate Academic Standing, Performance, Probation, and Dismissal in order to ensure baseline consistency of probationary processes across University of Utah graduate programs that are cognizant of varying individual program requirements; as well as compliance with interconnected university policies and protocols. This rule is based on guidelines established by the Graduate School in spring 2026.

Effective August 17, 2026, the university revised Policy 1-006: Individual Financial Conflict of Interest Policy, Rule R1-006C: Individual Financial Conflict of Interest in Research; and created Rule R1-006F: United States Department of Energy Investigator Conflict of Commitment Requirements to comply with changes to United States Department of Energy regulations. The university revised these regulation on an interim basis, and will finalize them through the regular regulation review and approval process. The university also revised Procedure P1-006B: Conflict of Interest Office Procedures Related to Requirements for Federally Funded Research.
Effective August 11, 2026, the university created Rule R6-500A: University Catalog and Curriculum Change Cycle and revised Policy 6-101: Undergraduate Study and Degrees to bring requirements related to the university catalog and a student’s assigned catalog year into alignment with national practice and federal Title IV (financial aid) regulations.
Effective August 11, 2026, the university revised portions of Policy 3-030: Travel Policy that specifically address travel by the university president or the university president's partner to comply with recent changes in Utah Board of Higher Education Policy R212: Chief Executive Travel Oversight.
Effective August 1, 2026, the university revised Rule R6-100B: Accommodations in Courses for Students' Religious and Conscience Beliefs. This revision combines existing university regulations related to accommodations for schedule and accommodations for content and revises the rule to comply with Utah Code Section 53H-7-903 and Utah Board of Higher Education Policy R264.
