On November 13, 2025, the Board of Trustees approved changes to policies related to the probationary period for staff members and transfer of staff members. See Policy 5-001: Employee Definitions and Policy 5-108: Transfer of Benefits Eligible Staff Members. These changes do not apply to University of Utah Hospitals and Clinics Staff members. The changes will take effect on January 1, 2026.
Recently Revised Regulations
Effective November 13, 2025, the university created new policy Policy 1-022: Strategic Reinvestment. This policy is required by state law as part of the law requiring the university to create a Strategic Reinvestment Plan. This policy repeals automatically on June 30, 2028.
Effective November 13, 2025, the university revised Policy 6-401: Students of the University to update the membership of and quorum requirements for the Committee on Student Affairs.
Effective September 9, 2025, the University revised Policy 6-309: Academic Staff, Educational Trainees, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Medical Housestaff and Rule R6-309A: Postdoctoral Fellows to clarify and standardize requirements related to postdoctoral fellows.
Effective March 20, 2025, the university revised Policy 3-030: Travel Policy to consolidate existing travel policy and replace outdated language. As part of this revision, existing rules R3-030A: Airfare Costs and Class of Service, R3-030B: Travel Cash Advances, and R3-030C: Per Diem were repealed and replaced by new versions of R3-030A: University Travel Payment and Allowable Expenses and R3-030B: Group Travel.
