Recently Revised Regulations

Policy 6-002: The Academic Senate and Senate Committees: Structure, Functions, Procedures.

Effective for the 2024-25 academic year, the University revised Policy 6-002, following a May 2023 vote by the Academic Senate to allow more flexibility to areas of representation in electing more than one career-line faculty representative for areas that desire to do so. Areas that would like to use this new option will need a written election plan to assign someone to ensure that at least 50% of those elected are tenure-line faculty. Representatives from respective areas on the Academic Senate Personnel & Elections Committee are available for assistance. Elections using this new option will start March 1, 2024. In addition to this change, Policy 6-002 was also editorially updated to include a policy scope, reorganization of information to be consistent with policy template, and to remove outdated terms.

Policy 6-304: University Promotion and Tenure Advisory Committee

Effective February 13, 2024, Policy 6-304 has been editorially updated to reflect current practice, to correct outdated information, and to remove the numerical references of faculty representatives/colleges. In addition, a purpose and scope has been added and headings were updated to reflect what the section covers. This policy had not been revised since May of 1999.

Policy 6-404: Undergraduate Admission

Effective February 13, 2024, the University revised Policy 6-404 to make permanent the practice of allowing undergraduate applicants to decide whether to submit ACT/SAT score for admissions to the University. This practice has been in place on a temporary basis since 2020.
